International Women Day 2026 celebrated at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya

        The International Women Day 2026 was celebrated at ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Umiam, Meghalaya with active participation of all the employees of the institute. To mark the occasion a workshop on “Workplace Equality” was conducted on 9th March 2026. The workshop began with a short inauguration session with the Chairperson of Internal Committee Dr. Tasvina R. Borah welcoming the Resource Persons, and the participants. Dr. Borah briefed about the importance of the celebration of International Women Day and the Workshop. Speaking on the occasion CAO (SG) highlighted the importance and role of every woman in everyone’s life. The Director (In-Charge) Dr. B. P. Singh emphasized the need for unbiased working environment for all the employees of the Institute and then only the institute will prosper. In the session conducted in the forenoon, resource person Mrs. Bariphylla Lyttan, Team Lead/Case Manager NGO Impulse, discussed in depth about workplace equality for all, role of AI and social media in creating unwelcoming environment at workplaces. In the afternoon session, Dr. Umeshwari Dkhar, Assistant Professor, National Law University dealt in length about the POSH Act, need and role of the Internal Committee in an institute. The workshop was beneficial for all employees as both the resource persons delivered the talks in the local language also. The programme was successfully coordinated by Mr. Swaroop Sharma IC member, Mrs. Mildalyne Nongkhlaw, member Secretary of IC and all the other members of the Internal Committee.
